 Yealey Families,

It's been a great four day week at school.  We hosted visitors from KDE and proudly showed off the hard work we have been doing here.  Next week we will be hosting visitors from Thomas More, other local schools, and from Chicago to finish the Lesson Study work we have been doing all year.  The teachers have been working very hard on this project and I can't wait to see the lessons in action.

Please don't forget that Friday is an early release day.  Students will be dismissed at 12:30.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  I'll see my Bobcats on Monday!

 Yealey Families,

I hope you had a love filled Valentine week at home.  It's always fun to have time for kids to focus on appreciating each other, their friendships, and showing gratitude.  I appreciate the letters I've received from students this week.  It is very sweet of them to remember me.

I was at a national conference last with a team of teachers.  We attended some very good sessions and are excited about sharing some new ideas with our teams. I heard and saw pictures that the PTA dance was very successful.  Thank you to everyone who volunteered to make this so successful.

We have no school on Monday.  See everyone back here on Tuesday!

 Yealey Families,

I hope you have had a great week!  We have worked hard at school. I've enjoyed watching students problem solve in math and work on reading new books.

Thursday evening is our Learning Check In evening.  Please look for information from your homeroom teacher on times and how the event will run.

Next week PTA is hosting a bow and bowtie dance on Friday evening for a cost of $15 per family and tickets are ordered ahead of time.  NO tickets will be sold at the door.

Our Leader In Me Action Team asked that I share our focus of the month:

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand. Then to be Understood:

This means: When we listen with the intent to understand others, rather than with the intent to reply, we begin true communication and relationship building. Seeking to understand takes kindness; seeking to be understood takes courage. Effectiveness lies in balancing the two.

Ask your child: Think of someone in your life who you think is a good listener. Your grandma? Your dad? Your best friend? What do they do that makes them a good listener? Could you try to do some of those things that make them a good listener?

I hope everyone has a great weekend.
